University of Alaska Marine Advisory Program Agent Reid Brewer based in Unalaska, visited Mt. Edgecumbe this week as part of Sitka Whalefest’s Scientists in the Schools program. The students got to dissect octopus. It was a fascinating look at one of Alaska’s most unusual mollusks. The annual program brings marine scientists from around the State and the nation to expose our students to careers in marine science. Tenakee resident Steve Lewis is the education coordinator for the program. The scientists are in Blatchley, Sitka High School and Mt. Edgecumbe High School this week.
