Sitka Sound Science Center staff and board would like to congratulate Lauren Wild for acceptance into the Masters of Research program in Marine Mammal Science at St. Andrews University in St. Andrews, Scotland. Ms. Wild, a Sitka High School graduate, holds a BA in International and Global Studies from Brandeis University. She currently works for the Sitka Sound Science Center in the Cetacean Bioacoustic Laboratory for Jan Straley, University of Alaska Southeast. Wild works on the Southeast Alaska Sperm whale Avoidance Project which is a joint project of the Science Center, University of Alaska , Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and the Alaska Longline Fishermen’s Association.She will matriculate in September 2012.
