The Blatchley Middle School EcoExplorers, a collaboration between Sitka Sound Science Center and the University of Alaska Southeast, wrapped up their first unit of the year searching for invasive tunicates at Eliason Harbor on Thursday, October 4th.  The samples they collected with Marnie Chapman, the unit leader and an associate professor of Biology and Health at UAS, will be used in a study at the Smithsonian Institute.  Our new unit lead by Paul Norwood and Courtney Bobsin will monitor seabird mortality with the COASST protocol beginning Thursday, October 11th.  Photo Courtesy of Paul Norwood.
